Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my VIVA Seed Account on things like gas or groceries?
No. Your VIVA Seed Account is designed exclusively for building credit and can’t be spent outside of VIVA.
What exactly is a VIVA Seed Account? Is it a real credit card?
No, VIVA Seed is not a traditional credit card, and you won't get a plastic card in the mail to buy groceries or gas. Instead, it is a revolving line of credit (a tradeline) that exists entirely inside of the VIVA Platform. You use this line of credit strictly to finance your monthly VIVA Seed plan ($5/mo). VIVA then reports that credit line and your monthly payments to the credit bureaus to make your profile look active and healthy. Each bureau has its own timing for when they review and post the data to your credit profile. Typically, it happens within a few days of receiving the report from us. The bureaus will update your credit score at the same time they update your profile. However, third-party services, such as your bank or other non-bureau credit monitoring services, may take up to a month to reflect the new data.
How does it build my credit score?
Payment History (35% of your score): Every time you make your low monthly plan payment on time, VIVA reports a "paid as agreed" status. Credit Utilization (30% of your score): VIVA gives you a set credit limit of $1,000. Because your monthly plan cost only uses a tiny fraction of that limit, your utilization rate sits extremely low (under 10%), which credit scoring models love.
Which credit bureaus does VIVA report to?
The VIVA Seed Account reports to all three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
Is there a credit check or a hard pull to apply?
No. There is no credit check and no hard inquiry to open an account. It is designed to be accessible to absolute beginners or people with severely damaged credit scores. You just need to verify your identity using your Social Security Number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
Do I get my money back at the end?
No, this is a common point of confusion. People often mistake VIVA Seed for a traditional credit-builder loan (like Self), where your monthly payments are held in a CD and returned to you later. With the VIVA Seed Credit Builder, your monthly payment is a subscription fee of $5 to keep the credit line open. If you close the account, you do not get those monthly fees back.
How long does it take to see results?
Once you sign up, it typically takes 4 to 6 weeks for the VIVA Seed tradeline to officially pop up on your credit reports. This delay depends on when you sign up relative to VIVA’s monthly reporting cycle and how fast the bureaus process the data.
Can I cancel anytime? What happens if I do?
Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time without paying a cancellation fee. However, keep the credit score math in mind: closing the account means you lose an active line of credit and it will eventually stop contributing to your "average age of accounts." If it's your only piece of positive credit history, your score might drop when you close it.
Do I receive cash when I open a VIVA Seed Account?
No, you do not receive any cash. When you open a VIVA Seed Account, you are approved for a revolving line of credit of $1,000. However, this money cannot be withdrawn, transferred to a bank account, or spent anywhere else. The credit line is strictly a "virtual" line of credit used inside the VIVA platform to finance your monthly VIVA Seed membership plan. No cash ever changes hands; it is entirely a mechanism to report positive credit data to the bureaus.
Does VIVA offer any way to get cash?
Yes, while the VIVA Seed Account doesn’t give you cash, VIVA has personal loan offers up to $15,000. You can apply for a personal loan at www.viva-finance.com
